Hooded Merganser

Hooded Merganser at Lake Elkhorn. I have had difficulty photographing this species of duck. They seem to dislike people and fly/swim away fast even at about a 40–50 foot buffer. I've spent some time sitting at the spillway at the lake attempting to photograph them. This one is a male—the female mergansers are all brown with a reddish head.
