Indigo Bunting

Indigo Bunting at Huntley Meadows Park on May 28, 2024. An often heard bird but not close enough for me to photograph. Nearly all of the times I see these birds here is high atop dead trees, with blue sky as the background. Common Yellowthroats are prominent in these trees on my prior visits this year. When I heard the call nearing the junction with this tree, I was looking for them. To my surprise, a male Indigo Bunting was hopping through the trees. It posed beautifully with the green leaves for a good 20 minutes, entertaining a handful of photographers. I skimmed through a couple thousand shots of this bird after arriving home and this one stood out for posting.

I have very few shots of these birds so this was the highlight of my morning.
